What does it mean to be 'green'?  What does it mean to be sustainable in these times?  Yoga and GreenLife go hand in hand!  Yoga is green and green is Yoga.    At this pertinent time to the planet, as we are all waking up, we now have choices and clear concise decisions to make surrounding how we live.  It is pertinent that we make choices within our lives and our personal practice.  This carries across many aspects of our lives.
We should make decisions to practice and live in alignment with the Earth Mother Gaia and her infinite spirals of creation.
Here are some ways to Practice Green.
1) Unless you are injured or elderly, practice in a warm room temperature space.  Hot Yoga is a menace.  There are hundreds of thousands of Hot Yoga classes all over the world pumping out heat upwards to 105 degrees.  This is not sustainable or healthy for our planet.  And in the oil crisis which we find ourselves, it just does not make sense to insist on a hot room.
2) Choose sustainable Yoga products.  You can choose an eco Yoga mat, eco blocks, straps, and specialty products.  Most bright Yoga companies are providing these products and switching completely.  Click HERE to purchase Eco-Yoga products.  You can also wear Eco-Yoga clothing.  For that matter, you should wear Eco-Clothing at all times!  Plastics make our bodies ill.  Focus on Organic Cotton, 100% Cotton, Bamboo, and Hemp.  To purchase Eco Yoga Clothing Click HERE
3) Practice Outside.  Yoga was never meant to be done in fancy city studios.  Get your Yoga groove on in Nature.  See if you can become closer to the Earth with your feet directly in the sand or on the grass.
Practice Green
Meditation to Connect to the Elements
Move your body and mat near water, a stream or river!Walk barefoot on the Earth and lie on the ground. For just a few moments, let go of your plans for the future and thoughts of the past. Let go of your thoughts and worries of the day.  Be aware of the physical sensation of your body contacting the ground and all of your natural rhythms with Nature. Feel the places where your body touches the ground, and feel the light on your face and body.  Then observe the plants and animals, wind, and natural sounds. Maintain some awareness of your own body as you still your thoughts and pay attention to what you see. Be fully present to the sentient beings around you, and you will experience your connectedness with everything.  Then close your eyes lie on the ground and breathe freely and openly as intended.  Lie back and relax for several minutes and become grounded back into your source self.  Then sitting upright close your eyes and breathe 11 to 31 minutes.
